About Kim
Kim grew up in a small town in northern Illinois with her
2 parents, 2 older brothers, and 1 younger sister. Life was pretty “normal” with school and
church activities. Part of that “normal”
life was growing up with Dejerine-Sottas, a progressive neuro-muscular
disorder. This causes muscle weakness, poor balance, and slow reflexes. Despite various childhood
challenges, Kim always had a sense of her real dignity as a unique person in
the eyes of God. Kim’s parents expected much of her, just like her siblings,
and always shared their love for her.
That foundation of faith and family helped Kim grow into
adulthood to have a family of her own.
In 1993, she married Bruce, and in 1994 she conceived her only
biological child. A routine ultrasound at 14 weeks detected serious anomalies,
and Kim was advised to abort. Knowing
that all life is precious in the eyes of God, Kim & Bruce rejected
abortion. The months that followed were
filled with brief moments of joy and many tears. Despite the tears, Kim’s testimony is filled
with hope and peace as she shares how she learned to cling to Christ in all
things.
Pro-Life
Experience
- 8 years as licensed foster parents, caring for 41 children, ages 4-18
- 18 years in local pregnancy center ministry, including 11 as Executive Director
- 3 time Workshop Presenter at Heartbeat International Conference
Keynote and Workshop Topics
- The Little Boy Who Made Me a Mom – Kim’s personal testimony of her own “crisis pregnancy” and the numerous ways in which God revealed Himself to her
- Working on the Frontlines – A day (or week!) in the life of a Pregnancy Resource Ministry, and how your community can be a part of their life-saving efforts
- Fearfully & Wonderfully Made – Living with a disability is different for everyone experiencing it, but in this talk Kim sheds light on the ups and downs of being “different” as a child, and even now as an adult…all the while acknowledging God’s unique gifts and calling for each person
- Authentically Female – How the culture of contraception and abortion have hurt women over the years, and how an acceptance of fertility as a gift brings true freedom
- Should I Stay or Should I Go? – Pro-life ministry can be exhausting and draining, but also very fulfilling. We want to save lives, but we question our effectiveness. This workshop provides information on ministry fatigue and practical tips to address this very real issue. Great for parish and PRC volunteers!
Kim is also willing to work with you to
develop a unique presentation to coordinate with your event theme
Schedule
an Event
It is recommended that you schedule Kim at least 3 months
in advance. For conferences that involve
more than one day, 6 months advance notice is recommended. Events occurring
sooner may be scheduled, depending on availability.
Speaking fees will vary on the length of the presentation
and the event venue. One half of the fee
is required with a signed contract. The
balance is due on the day of the event.
Travel accommodations, including airfare, hotel, meals, and taxi (when
needed) must also be provided by the event sponsor.
Kim utilizes a 4-wheeled scooter wheelchair for mobility. She can walk short distances, and can travel in most cars and vans without the scooter. Hotel accommodations must include an ADA approved room with a roll-in shower. If the speaking event is at a location separate from the hotel, accessible transportation must be provided. Please contact Kim directly before making travel and hotel accommodations.
