I have a few cards to post today. Even though my primary stamping challenge goal is focused on sketches, I still love color challenges. So, I have the 3 most recent SCS color combos, two of them combined with The Paper Players. Lucky for me, the first of those is a sketch!
I really like using circles, cut off a bit along the edge of a card, so this sketch from Nance is perfect!
The SCS color combo is from last week: real red, marina mist, and night of navy. I decided to use all of those colors on the neutral card base of crumb cake. My main layer is dry embossed with the chevron folder. I used a Sizzix die for the scallop circle, stamping stars from "Words of Courage" and a greeting from "Polka Dot Party." The navy twine is OLD (the SU label is dark blue!) I have had it for years, and it wasn't even open. Since the sketch had some loops, I decided to give it a try. My second greeting is from "Happiest Birthday Wishes." I also used red polka dot ribbon and some candy dots.
While this looks like a birthday card, it is for a good friend who loves The Fourth of July...it is her favorite holiday! She says, " I don't have to shop or decorate; we get to eat outside, and there are fireworks." I don't have firework stamps, but hopefully this will add to her fun day!
Next, there was a CAS challenge on The Paper Players last week, with a summer theme. Initially, I considered using the colors in the fun blog badge, but I opted to use this vibrant palette from SCS: bermuda bay, daffodil delight, and rich razzleberry.
I already had the razzleberry card base cut, and the daffodil pattern paper was on my cutting table from a previous project. I guess prepared supplies help with the clean and simple idea, right? Instead of ice cream, I chose a tropical drink for my summer treat, using markers in the challenge colors, plus baked brown sugar. My images are from "Tropical Party." The greeting is from "On Your Birthday," punched out, sponged, and popped up. Polka dot ribbon is the final detail. I think I should have added a bow...hmmm. Any way, I absolutely LOVE these colors!!
My last card is just for this week's color challenge on SCS: hello honey, cucumber crush, and watermelon wonder. I do not have any of the new In-colors yet, and will have to wait quite a while to indulge. We had to buy a new refrigerator 2 months ago...and our dishwasher (which was already in the house when we moved here in '98) stopped working last week without warning. BooHoo. Appliances truly cut into a craft budget! But I have a LOT of supplies already, so I can keep going. Back to the card... since 2 of the colors are new, I had my brain thinking I had none of the colors. I actually do have hello honey, but used crushed curry instead of the new dijon color, which was etched on my brain. I substituted wild wasabi for the cucumber, and primrose petals for the watermelon. All of the stamps are from SU's "Thanks for Caring," colored with markers. Having the matted panel in the center wasn't quite enough for me, so I added a dry embossed strip of primrose for some much needed texture. Striped grosgrain ribbon and candy dots wrapped it all off.
Thanks for stopping by my little blog again! Leave a comment to let me know what you think!
