Dare to Cut Things Up!

Happy Wednesday, Friends! Time for another Color Dare challenge!! I don't know about the other design team members, but this one threw me for a loop! We are combining Peach Parfait, Real Red, and Pear Pizazz! Once again, all items used are from Stampin' Up!

Now, I gotta tell you...I RARELY use peach parfait! I seam to bring it out for challenges, but I don't gravitate toward it on my own. I decided almost right away to do something with a floral image, so I went with the 2-step stamp set Awash with Flowers. I like my square cards, and I began with a pear pizazz base, then added a peach parfait layer. The peach was texturized with the Backgrounds 1 Texturz plate in my big shot. Next I stamped my images with stazon black on whisper white, and added the challenge colors. I sponged a bit on the bottom as well... and somehow I came up with this cut-up image for my sketch. I like the stair-step look for the square shape. I stamped the entire square first, then cut it in 3 pieces, making sure I could line up the stems. Each piece was layered with real red. I added a strip of pattern paper from the almost-retired hostess level 1 pack. I used the Beautiful Wings embosslit and some basic pearls for my butterfly. The Friend stamp is from You're a Gem, finding it's way back to the IBC this July 1st! The small oval punch is retiring...found on the Last Chance List until June 30th. For my final fun detail...how 'bout that ribbon!? I could not decide which color ribbon to use (heaven knows I have a bunch!)...so I used my markers and colored my organza ribbon in this rainbow fashion. I really like how it turned out, and I know I'll be doing it again!!

Hope you play along with us this week! Check out http://colordare.blogspot.com and use keyword CD106 in your online gallery!!

Featuring Colors and Ruffles

Happy Sunday!!

I have been having fun in my stamp room today! Among other things, I needed to check out the Featured Stamper Challenge on SCS. Today's FS is MaryBeth, aka MBRCutie25. I was not familiar with her, but oh my! What a lovely gallery! I chose this card to CASE.

Instead of stamping on the base directly, I mounted my whisper white on a daffodil delight card base. I kept the same sketch...a sentiment on the left, flowers on the right, and a band along the bottom. I used On Your Birthday with markers, and Awash with Flowers, which is a 2-step stamping set. My colors are old olive, daffodil delight, and night of navy...all from one of my favorite combos from Color Challenge #303. The night of navy is highlighted with a scallop trim border.

This is the first time I have tried this ruffled ribbon technique. I put a line of sticky strip on the navy, then attached my old olive satin ribbon. Essentially, you manually scrunch the ribbon, pressing each "valley" into the sticky strip. Some people have even peaks, some random...mine are random 'cuz I am not very good at it yet!! LOL!! Another thing: it takes a lot of ribbon! I thought my piece was long enough, but I began to run out. Solution? Leave one side flat and add pearls. Ta-dah!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Colorful Challenges

Here are 2 recent color challenge cards from splitcoaststampers. All products used are from Stampin' Up!

This clean and simple card was made with always artichoke, blushing bride, and marina mist (this week's colors). I used some patterned paper from the Hostess Level 1 In-color pack. The cute little bird is from Fun and Fast Notes, colored with markers, and mounted on a bit of artichoke patterned paper. Everyone should get these Patterns Designer Series Paper Stacks! So versatile...such a great way yo add interest in a short time. I accessorized with artichoke seam binding and flower brads from the brights collection.

This next card was for a swap, and for last week's color challenge...pear pizazz, peach parfait, and concord crush. I added a bit of daffodil delight and baja breeze too. I actually started this swap before the color challenge was posted, but it took me forever to finish!! I have somehow lost my oval punch. How did I do that??? My efforts to find theovl so I could use a particular sentiment failed...so I resorted to the fail-proof Teeny Tiny Wishes. My faithful scallop oval and word window punches got a work-out, as I needed to make 30 of these! You probably recognize the Awash with Flowers images too, for 2-step stamping. I think I am going to tuck them away for the fall/winter season now. That way they will feel like new next April! More patterned paper...and how 'bout that FABULOUS twill ribbon!? It comes in each of the 5 In-colors! I *need* some more!

Thanks for stopping by!

This Week's Color Challenge

Wow! What a tough color combo this week! Melon Mambo, More Mustard, and Baja Breeze! As I was cyber chatting on splitcoaststampers with my "Challenge Chaser" friends late Monday night, one of the gals (Hi Wendy!) first saw this challenge and said "WHAT??" So, I needed to give it a try. After all, I always say I love color challenges, I can't be intimidated! Well, this one came close!

I immediately pictured flowers with the melon and mustard colors, and a baja breeze sky. At first, I was going to use more embellishments and layers, but decided to keep it Clean and Simple (CAS). I used Awash with Flowers, a fun 2-step stamping set. I could have lined things up better, but I wanted to see how quickly I could do this! The outlines are stamped in basic gray, and I added old olive to the stamps and leaves. I sponged olive for the ground, baja for the sky...then added a scalloped oval in baja breeze. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, stamped in more mustard on whisper white. Just added two gold brads and dimensionals for the final touch. Making a birthday card with brads fits this week's Party Time Tuesday challenge, as well! This card took 5 minutes to make, maybe less! Not every card has to consume your entire day!!

Another Color Challenge

I LOVE Color Challenges! It's kinda funny...because several of my cyber friends say they "hate" the weekly color challenge on splitcoaststampers. Oh well...we're all different, and that makes our galleries so varied and beautiful!

The Color Challenge from Tuesday called for Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist, and Cherry Cobbler. LOVE this color palette! I made 2 very different cards.

The first card is a simple birthday card using the 2-step stamp set Awash with Flowers and On Your Birthday. I used basic gray to stamp the flower outlines, then added marina mist and cherry cobbler. I sponged with the marina mist and wasabi, and added a bit of daffodil delight for the sun. The main panel is highlighted with the scallop edge punch. Notice the rhinestones? Love having these! The dsp behind the sentiment is from the regals pattern pack...a must-have in my book! Taffeta ribbon literally tops it all off.

The second card was super easy! I had to try my new ornament punch! This month's club hostess chose "Christmas in July" as her theme. I simply punched out the 3 challenge colors, used versamark with Serene Snowflakes, and placed them on basic black. Teeny Tiny Wishes and the Modern Label Punch make a comeback here...you didn't think I lost them did you?? White oranza ribbon adds an elegant finish.

Have fun playing with your new colors!!
