It's the Birthday Mash!
Well, I haven't blogged for a week, but I have stamped. So here I am catching up a bit. I definitely want to get this card posted, since the blog deadline is in about half an hour! LOL
When I saw the Friday Mashup posted last Friday, I saw the colors and was stumped. VERY tough combo...especially since I am not a big fan of summer starfruit or tangerine tango. BUT I had to give it a try...it IS a challenge, right? The colors were tricky (summer starfruit, island indigo, tangerine tango, early espresso, & sahara sand), but the challenge to use different patterns helped out. I also found an old sketch challenge on splitcoaststampers to get my creative juices going.
My card base is sahara sand, with a layer of very vanilla. Using dsp, it was easy to get different patterns. The strip of indigo and the square of espresso houndstooth are both from SU's Festival of Prints. The starfruit square is from SU's Comfort Cafe. My image and sentiment are from SU Flight of the Butterfly, an easy 2-step stamping set. Tangerine tango and sahara sand layers were also added. The ribbon is basic gray taffeta (I was thinking I needed to add gray...oops), and the big designer button has a bit of indigo bakers twine.
I am pretty happy with the results. But what amazes me the most is this: this card has already been mailed to its recipient! Created Sunday, photographed Monday, mailed Tuesday, blogged Wednesday! Not bad, huh?
Thanks for stopping by!

Virtual Stamp Night!
The first card was for a "Love is in Bloom" challenge. We had to use hearts or the word "Love". I made this clean and simple card for my mom, allowing the retired Greenhouse Gala dsp to take center stage. She loves to garden, so the flowers are perfect!
The next card asked us to do some "Spring Cleaning" by using older, neglected products. This retired Bella Bleu dsp, along with the retired stamps and ribbon did the trick!

Friday Mashup! Wings and Bling!
Hello Stampin' Friends! It's Friday! You know what that means...time for another Friday Mashup challenge!! This week, Kasey brings us a fun and colorful challenge, and I hope you play along! Here it is:
Create a project with butterflies and bling
Create a project using Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, plus ONE other color of choice and ONE neutral
Or Mash it Up and create a project with butterflies, bling, and the color combo
My original intent was to use daffodil delight as my other color...even pulled out card stock over last weekend. But instead, I decided my wild wasabi was lonely since I haven't used it for a while. (I think it would look better with both, but that doesn't fit the challenge!) I started with a wasabi base and added a piece of perfect plum dsp. This is one of the retired patterns (I have scraps) but you can get the Subtles Pattern Paper Sack with the current patterns by going to my Stampin' Up site. I cut 2 squares each in marina mist and whisper white. Using my Flight of the Butterfly 2-step stamp set, I made one square of my own designer paper (love the tiny flower) and used one of the sentiments on the other square. I love setting squares off on this angle as diamonds...I think it adds interest. I then stamped a butterfly in marina mist and perfect plum, punched it out with the must-have butterfly punch, and popped it up with a dimensional. For the bling, I added rhinestones off to the sides, and 2 on the butterfly itself. Finally, I added some organza ribbon...'cuz I love this ribbon!!
Be sure to check out the rest of the DT cards...they are lovely and great for inspiration!! Then, show us what you come up with and link it up to the Friday Mashup challenge blog. Be sure to use keyword FM19 in your online gallery.
Can't wait to see your creations!

Dare to Join the Team!!

Hello and Happy Wednesday!!! I am sooooooooo excited to share some great news: Riley has asked me to join her Design Team for The Color Dare!! WooHoo!! If you have been following my blog at all, you know I participate in her challenges quite often...love her color combos! Plus it's always fun to come up with "daring" blog post titles!! LOL!!
This week's Color Dare is #100...and it's a fun one! Sahara Sand, Rose Red, and Baja Breeze. I was so happy to see Sahara Sand make the line-up...it's one of my favorite neutrals, and doesn't get enough love! I think it is remarkably versatile! I opted to feature polka dots in my card, using it in texture, dsp, and stamps. The main image is from Flight of the Butterfly. Love how this 2-step stamp set works. The wings are stamped in sahara sand,, then the polka dots added in rose red. I stamped the butterfly twice; once flat on the very vanilla, then again, but punched it out and popped up with a dimensional. I sponged the panel with baja breeze, and layered it on baja breeze. The larger layer of very vanilla took a trip through the Big Shot with the perfect polka dots impressions folder. I added some subtles pattern paper in rose and baja...and added the scallop trim detail. Finally, some seam binding was added...I REALLY hope this stuff (which retired in April) shows up in the new Idea Book and Catalog this summer! Love it!
So join us this week with your ideas! Grab your card stock and stamp...can't wait to see what you create!!

Very Bright and Sketchy!!

This week's Create with Connie and Mary Challenge was a bold and bright color combo...pacific point, real red, and pumpkin pie. I was at a complete loss for a while...but pulled out my Flight of the Butterfly stamp set and this week's SCS sketch challenge, and things came together. I turned the sketch on its side to accommodate this fun sentiment. I had a good size scrap of this retired polka dot dsp, which is perfect, and I also used some yummy (and current!) Blueberry Crisp dsp for the lower layer. I stamped the pumpkin for the wings first, then the polka dots. This set is a great 2-step stamping set, and I am happy to have it out for spring again! My butterfly punch and dimensionals allow me to give the image flight! I still needed a circle type layer to complete the sketch, so I simply layered punches, and added a glimmer brad with the Teeny Tiny Wishes sentiment.
Yes, this card has LOTS of layers...but sometimes, I think it works great! What do you think?
